Sheriff Scott Stephens was elected to his first term in office during the general election of 2000, and he took office in 2001. He is currently serving his third term in office.
Sheriff Stephens worked for Union County Government for several years prior to beginning his career in law enforcement with Union County Sheriff's Office in 1993 as a Deputy Sheriff assigned to Uniform Patrol. Sheriff Stephens subsequently became a K9 handler for illegal drug detection and continued his assignment with Uniform Patrol. He was eventually promoted to Lieutenant within that division.
Since his election in 2001, Sheriff Stephens has overseen a span of huge growth in Union County and remained dedicated to providing full service law enforcement to the citizens and visitors of Union County. In order to fulfill this goal, he accompanies staff members during field operations. Union County Sheriff's Office ensures that the availability of law enforcement services is realized by a telephone call in a reactive mode, and via active patrol and investigative services in a proactive role.
When not at the office, Sheriff Stephens enjoys the outdoors with his two sons and his wife.
